Although the highs here in the town of Peñasco only reach into the mid nineties whereas places like Phoenix are over 100 degrees, it feels much hotter here. The relative humidity is super high in August and the first part of September. Theres only a few options to beat this heat.
1. Stay inside where the a/c is on
2. Grab an ice chest and head to the ocean.

Some of the folks who live here dont have a/c so option 2 is their best bet. They flock to the ocean with kids in tow at least every Friday Saturday and Sunday. The ocean provides immediate relief and it is a lot of fun too! This pic was taken Sept 2nd 2012 at the head of Cholla Bay.

Other folks have their own ideas of how to cool down. Instead of cooling down the outside of their body, they prefer to cool down from the inside out like this group of guys at JJ's Cantina on Sunday. Whatever way you decide it it sure to bring some relief. The heat this year will be all gone by the 3rd or 4th week of September. But by January we will all be saying "man I wish it was August again"

Yes its hot and can get a bit sticky but if you know how you can stay pretty cool.

One morning we decided that it was time to put the jrt ski in and make some needed repairs that had to be done on the water. So we drove from our house 10 minutes to the local marina in town. We put her in the water and lifted the hood and with in a few minutes several young men came over and asked how they could help us. I was totally impressed when they jumped right in to help fix a rather un-obvious (to me) cooling problem. After a few minutes we put it to the test. This pic is Naomi cruising at high speeds to make sure all is well. It was. What a great day of riding.

Naomi hitting it hard!

Later we decided to crash on the beach around sunset and grill some locally purchased lobsters. No they dont come from here exactly but the are available.
She has a long history of being a seamstress, since moving to Mexico her work has turned into wearable art. She has a great vision and her creations bring a smile to your face. If you like fine things, you will like following her activities!
Well since we live only a few minutes to the beautiful waters of the Sea of Cortes' Naomi and I decided to take our cooking utensils and prepare something really special for dinner. We made lobsters and baked potatoes and hung out in the water for the afternoon it was wonderful.
Saturday night was the Tequila Festival the first of many to come here. We had Mariachis and Tequila, dancers and Tequila, food and Tequila, oh and we had bacanora too. If you havent tried bacanora, you should. it is made pretty much the same way as Tequila but uses a different plant than the Blue Agave, it uses the Maguey plant a derivative of the Agave.

The music was intense, we had bands from Caborca, Hermosillo and singers from Peñasco joining in. It was a great event and I for one am looking forward to the next one!MexicoRusshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04922930673957753519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8361863920649430029.post-25323008313226183872011-08-15T10:57:00.002-07:002011-09-08T16:44:18.609-07:00THE MISSING WEBSITEHello All,

I have decided to discontinue my www.mexicoruss.com website in favor of a Blogspot which will be much more flexible and easier to update.

So, in the next month or two, I will slowly be adding content to this my MexicoRuss Blogspot! In the previous years the resort handled all of their own planning and concessions but at this event this year they reached out to the local community and asked for participation to make it a great day, and it was.

There were about 80 golfers and the weather was beautiful all day.

It was very interesting at this tournament as there were 4 restaurants serving food at predesignated holes, but the coolest think was our mobile Tequila cart which served up more than 100 shots of Tequila to the players. Not just any Tequila, but a special barrel from Manny's Tequila Factory. It in an aged barrel for the last 8 months which made it whats called a "Reposado" or rested Tequila. I had to build the unit which held the Barrel into place which everybody said they loved. For some that tasted the Tequila it was their first time to try GREAT Tequila, so they said it was special for sure.

The entire day went way beyond anybodies expectations and they all said they would be waiting for the next tournament in a year.

Thanks to Ron Castillo and the friendly staff at Las Palomas Golf and Resort n the beach at Puerto Penasco- Rocky Point Mexico.

Contact me by email at mexicoruss@gmail.comMexicoRusshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04922930673957753519noreply@blogger.com0
